Three Ways to Get Inspired

Don’t worry. The first week back from vacation is always the hardest. Take back control of your creativity and try one of these three ways to find inspiration.

1. Talk it out.
While your co-workers might share an invested interest in your work, free yourself from the corporate culture and have a thoughtful conversation with someone who’s completely removed from the project. Even just a 10-minute conversation with a friend will set you up with an outside perspective and some new ideas to get your project off the ground.

2. Get out.
Leave your office and go for a walk, hit the elliptical, or just sit outside. Breathe deeply and be mindful of your surroundings. A change of scenery will refresh your thoughts and help you to regain your focus.

3. Stay focused.
No matter who you decide to talk to or where you choose to go – stay focused. Remain thoughtful about what it is you’re trying to accomplish. Draw inspiration from people and places you encounter by finding ways to apply the experience to your project.

Make sure to write down your thoughts during this creative process – even the craziest of ideas! Sometimes the best inspiration comes from the strangest places.
